Two Rescued After Apartment Fire Breaks Out In Region

Two people were rescued from a third-floor apartment in Western Massachusetts during a two-alarm fire.

The fire started around 3 a.m., Monday, Dec. 27 in Springfield at 858 Belmont Ave.

Springfield Fire Department officials said two people were rescued from the third floor using ladders.

One of those rescued was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, another was treated at the scene, the department said.

Firefighters had the fire under control in about an hour.

The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad is currently investigating.
